Colibri Natural Anti-insect Products

Colibri natural anti-insect products are uniquely-made products that are the result of a long and detailed research into how plants protect themselves from the attacks of insects. These plants emit substances, called essential oils, which are disagreeable to insects and discourage them from their surroundings. Colibri products were created following the same principle so that they are not only a powerful anti insect repellent but also a fresh and pleasant fragrance. Colibri combines 15 of those essential oils. More complex than the widely available citronella based products, Colibri contains, among others, lemongrass, geranium,  Neem, (from the tropical evergreen, native to S Asia, has been used for centuries in India, where it is known to have anti bacterial and pesticide properties) vetiver, lavender, peppermint and eucalyptus.

Insect Repellent for Camping

If there's one thing that you absolutely cannot leave home without when you head out camping, insect repellent is it. The degree of bugs that you run into while out will depend on the area that you happen to be going, but make no mistake about it, if you do hit an area where they are heavily populated, you can be sure that it's going to take away from the overall enjoyment you get from your trip. While nats and flies will certainly be a hassle to deal with, mosquitoes tend to be especially frustrating to campers as just a few bites and you'll feel like you're constantly being pricked by the tiny bugs as your skin remains in a supersensitive state. Fortunately, if you choose the right insect repellent for your needs, you can go about your trip worry free that these bugs are going to bother you.

Using Natural SKincare to combat Allergies & Eczema

All my life I have been a girl of self indulgence. I just loved baths, creams and body sprays, with one major problem, I was severely allergic to those chemical laden products, and was left using so called pure soaps that still left me with dry skin that was often accompanied by a rash. With a chemistry and nursing background, I soon learned enough about skin conditions and the chemical makeup of some of those product out on the market. I knew that I could enjoy my baths & creams once again by making it all myself.

Tips for sending kids off to summer camp

NEW YORK June 28, 2007 - (CBS) Now that school's out in most places, it's time for summer camp. Millions of kids are signed up and, whether it's day camp or a sleep-away, parents need to be sure their little ones are well-prepared. Victoria Pericon, an author and the founder of "Savvy Mommy," an online magazine (savvymommy.com stopped by The Early Show Monday with some ideas to help parents make sure their youngsters are ser for their time away. The first thing parents should do, Pericon told Russ Mitchell, is make sure the camp offers activities their child will enjoy — sports, dance, photography, theater, art, etc. If the child has never been to camp before, talk with other parents to see whether your child's friends will be going to camp; they may be happier if they know some people already at the camp. You could also start off small and only do a sleep-away camp or day camp for the minimum number of weeks the camp allows, instead of the full summer session of eight weeks. The best age to send kids to camp for the first time is about 4 for day camp for a half-day or full day, a few days a week. At 5, they can pretty much go every day for a full day to a day camp. As for sleep away, the average starter age is 7. Items kids would find useful at camp include: MABEL'S LABELS: Sticky labels used to make sure day campers and sleep away campers both return with their prized possessions, whether they're clothes, gear, or water bottles. Dealing With Insects at Outdoor Weddings

Planning an outdoor wedding is a lot of fun, but let's face it, you also have to deal with some extra challenges. The bride and groom are not the only nature lovers at a wedding; there are also uninvited guests, namely insects. It is not exactly the most romantic thing, but dealing with the insect problem is something that you will have to face if your outdoor wedding is to be pleasant for you and your guests.

I once knew a woman who had a beautiful outdoor wedding by a lake, and afterwards she showed me her wedding album. The bride and her attendants all looked lovely in their pretty dresses and delicate wedding jewelry. But the first thing that jumped out in her pictures was not the wedding gown or the jewelry; it was the ugly red welts on her arms. For this young bride had had a sunset wedding, you see, and did I mention it was by a body of water? - that's right, the bride, the groom, and all of their guests were eaten alive by mosquitoes on that fine summer evening.

Don't let this be you! There are many ways to combat pests like mosquitoes and bees at outdoor weddings. You just have to do some advance planning to thwart them before they make a nuisance of them at your wedding. Mosquitoes are an especially big problem for weddings that are held at dusk near a lake or pond, so if that sounds like your venue, you might need to try a combination of these tactics.

The first thing to do is visit your reception site at the time of day and in the same season as your wedding, if at all possible. After a few minutes, you should have a pretty good idea of how bad the bug problem is. One bride that I knew wanted to have her reception in her backyard, which was surrounded by woods and had a stream behind it. She knew that the mosquito situation was terrible by her house, so well before the wedding she purchased one of those propane powered mosquito vacuum systems that claim to clear the mosquitoes from up to an acre around the unit. It was expensive, but she swore that it did a fantastic job, making her property not only comfortable for her wedding day, but for her family all summer long.

A simpler approach is to use a combination of citronella torches, candles, and bug spray at your wedding. The citronella torches work best when they create a perimeter of smoke encircling your party area. Just be careful about using torches if there will be a bunch of children running around at your wedding! You can also use citronella candles on tables placed strategically around your site. They do have a fairly distinctive odor though, so be careful not to place them anywhere where they would interfere with the delicious aroma of your food.

A very elegant approach to insect repellent is to place little cans of bug spray in the powder rooms, or even in a basket where your guests will see it as they arrive. Products with DEET are generally the most effective, but they are also quite noxious. You might want to consider providing your guests with a safer herbal spray instead. You can also get products that can be sprayed on the legs of the tables and chairs about an hour in advance as another line of protection.

Don't forget about bees. The easiest way to avoid bees is to not attract them in the first place. This means no scented lotions or perfumes, and think twice about wearing a fresh flower in your hair. If you are concerned that the food at your reception will attract bees, steal a trick from outdoor cafes, and place jars of sugar water away from where your guests and food will be. It works very well to draw off the bees.

Planning for flying pests at your outdoor wedding is no fun, but it is important to ensure the comfort of your guests. Dealing with these types of details is a small price to pay for having your wedding in a beautiful natural setting.

Rosey - Matt Buechele (ORIGINAL SONG)

Hi everyone, This is my latest original song. It's called "Rosey". Sorry for the poor audio quality, I have to turn my head on the louder notes so the mic doesn't distort. Let me know if you like it! Rosey, Rosey You're living your life half way 'round the world Rosey, Rosey Did you really think I'd met another girl? If you believe me, please just tell me, and I will gladly fake a smile Because I think that you should stay awhile I've been waiting, I've been waiting To read your letters shipped from overseas I've been patient, I've been patient Daydreaming that you still remember me If its useless, then I'm clueless, but its where I'd rather be So take his hand but let my heart go free. (SKITTYDEEE DAT DO BOP DEET blah blah blah) I've been thinking, I've been thinking Maybe this great world is not so bad But if I'm chasing, if I keep chasing a girl like you, I'm likely to go mad If you cheated, we're defeated, but I now know where we stand So good luck searching for a better man Rosey, Rosey I think I'm finally learning to move on I've been bothered, So damn bothered But I think I'll do much better when you're gone Well it early, seven thirty, so I'll crawl right out of bed And slowly lose your image in my head.

The Killer Bee - A Background of America's Most Dangerous Bee

Arthur Herzog has made a novel out of them, countless movies and television series' have been inspired by them, professional wrestlers and baseball players are named after them, and various musical artists from hip hop to heavy metal have made songs about them. What is it about killer bees that has the public in such a frenzy whenever they're mentioned? Perhaps it's the huge colonies that can darken the sky when they move, or the potential lethality of killer bee attacks, or maybe even the fact that these bees were originally bred by humans. Whatever the cause for emotion, killer bees are now a part of the national and even global psyche.

Killer bees or Africanized Bees, as they're more properly called were born when biologist Warwick E. Kerr tried to breed a special kind of bee that was hardier and more productive than the European honeybee. After breeding the European variety with the more aggressive bees from Southern Africa, the first Africanized or 'killer' bees were born. And after their accidental release, the Africanized bee has all but conquered several parts of the United States and beyond.

The killer or Africanized bees have several distinct characteristics that set set them apart from the regular honeybee. First off, they tend to swarm much more frequently and usually travel great distances in response to dwindling food supplies. And another reason why they're very dangerous is because they have more guard bees than usual and are known in general to attack intruders relentlessly and in full force. This aggression combined with widespread range and mobility makes the killer bee a specie to be wary of, especially for those living in the more southern states of the country.

Actually an Africanized bee's venom is hardly stronger than a regular bee's but they are considered more dangerous because of their much larger numbers when attacking as well as the ferocity by which they will protect their territory. They are however not as lethal as many of the pop culture releases and sensationalist news reports would suggest with much fewer fatalities over a period of several years than, say, venomous snakes. But having a killer bee infestation is serious stuff, when looked at from any angle.

Treating Cluster Flies in the Home Or Workplace

CLUSTER FLY (POLLENIA RUDIS)

The Cluster Fly is named so due to its habit of clustering and hibernating in large numbers in buildings and loft spaces. This fly is commonly found throughout Europe and the UK. These flies are not classed as a pest species, but often require treatment due to their large numbers. During the summer and early autumn these flies are of no consequence. As the season cools they seek shelter in nooks and crannies in houses and other buildings. As temperatures drop they search for more protection and frequently form vast clustering masses in roof spaces and lofts, with several thousand flies clustered together. It has been observed that a single house or building in a row of similar buildings will be chosen year after year for this clustering phenomenon. Such large numbers of these flies can produce a sickly smell. If warmed up either accidentally or artificially they may emerge from hibernation and become a nuisance to the people using the building.

The adult cluster fly is a fairly large species at around 10mm in length and a wingspan of around 20mm; it has large reddish compound eyes. the thorax (body) has a distinctive dark greyish/ olive colour and is covered in golden hairs. When resting the wings are held tight on top of the abdomen.

The adult female lays her eggs loosely on and around damp soil, beneath dead and rotting leaves etc. after about a week the larvae hatch from the eggs and actively seek earthworms to which they cling and bore through the body wall. The conventionally shaped fly maggots develop within the earthworm. The larvae have been observed to push their hind ends back through the earthworm's body wall to allow their breathing spiracles to gain access to free air. At or near to the end of the earthworms life the larva will bore its way out and pupates in the soil. Since this is a free-living field insect, the life cycle is very dependent on weather conditions. In Britain it seems that two generations per year are common, but in hot summers up to four generations are possible.

There are various different ways of treating for cluster flies. The easiest way to deal with them is to use mini smoke generators and this will kill the nest off. An installation of an automatic dispensing insecticide system would be beneficial to stop further infestation occurring. When using smoke bombs or smoke generators to control cluster flies remember to make sure that bats are not present and water tanks are fully covered.

Ant Pest Control - How to Exterminate Them Naturally With Green Products

Living in a warm climate is great. You get to go to the beach if you live near the Atlantic Ocean in South Florida. In fact, some people are so fortunate that they even have a swimming pool in their backyard. This is just a little of the positive stuff about South Florida. We do have our downside of Hurricanes and and abundant supply of mold that loves our homes too. One thing that a lot of people do not talk about is all the ants that like living here also. We have a large variety of different species that thrive in this climate too. The climate and Sunshine is perfect for them to multiply.

Ants are a very adaptive species and are very persistent in getting what they want. They can be a real nuisance in trying to keep them under control. If you look in your yard, you will eliminate them today in one area and a week later, there they are again in another location. It is impossible to keep them out of your home also. They just keep moving to a new location. When you thought you had them under control, there they are again. Keeping them out of your home is the first line of defense. Sealing all holes where they can enter into your house is important. Seal all cracks and any small openings. Keep trees and shrubs away from your home. Cut off branches to prevent ants from entering from shrubbery and trees.

I had some ants recently that took me using a Baiting System almost one month to get rid of them. I applied the bait several times, they took it and slowly the colony died. Using toxic pest control chemicals is not an option for me because of my Allergies to Pesticides. There are a lot of people out there who have Allergies to Pesticides too. All of us use a Baiting System and Boric Acid. In the last 15 years, not once have I sprayed Pesticides in my home. So, it is important to remember that you do not need to spray toxic pest control chemicals in your home for ants. Baiting Systems and Boric Acid works very well. If you do not want to do this job yourself, hire a Professional Pest Control Company that will do what is call IPM or "Integrated Pest Management" in your house. Just call them and tell them what your want.

One of the most important things to remember about ants, keep your home clean and free of food crumbs. By do this, you will eliminate all food sources and control them. Keep all leftovers in sealed containers to prevent Ants from finding them and leading other fellow pests to the food. Keep your Kitchen clean on a daily basis and you will not have these pests there looking for crumbs to eat.

In conclusion, ants love warm and humid climates. They are a very persistent species and adapt quickly to changing circumstances in their lives. IPM or "Integrated Pest Management" Systems uses the least toxic system to control pests. If you are Allergic to Pesticides, you cannot use Chemical Pest Control Systems in your home. Baiting Systems and Boric Acid works well in keeping then under control. If you feel that you have been affected by a Professional Pest Control Chemical, contact your Doctor immediately.
